Las Encinas is licensed by the State of California as a Chemical Dependency Recovery Hospital, but the setting for our residential treatment program is not in a hospital setting. Our Briar Program is specially designed and structured for the treatment of alcohol and drug dependency in our beautiful bungalows, located on the 25 acre hospital grounds. This level of care is appropriate for people who have significant disruptions in their lives, such as a loss of job, getting kicked out of school, destruction of intimate relationships, estrangement or difficulties with family members, and/or isolation due to alcohol and/or other drug use.

Services Offered in the Briar Program
The Briar Program at Las Encinas in Pasadena takes a holistic view of addiction and incorporates interventions to promote healing in one’s core aspects of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. We provide the following services for drug or alcohol dependence:
- Supervised Sub-Acute Detox - We provide 24 hr nursing and always have medical staff available to assist and guide your detoxification process. We understand that detox can be challenging and we will do the our best to make it as comfortable as possible.
- Focus groups with the Chemical Dependency Services Director, MD & Addictionologist
- A variety of psychotherapy, psychoeducational and chemical-dependency education groups
- 1-on-1 consultations with an addictionologist
- A customized treatment plan designed to help you meet your goals and objectives for recovery
- Therapeutic exercise activities, such as yoga, tai chi, tennis, volleyball, swimming and basketball
- A range of evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, art therapy, and music therapy
- Spiritual exploration with community guests
- Peer-led recovery seminars
- Aftercare/recovery lecture groups
