Las Encinas Hospital offers a wide range of behavioral health care treatment options for patients with psychiatric conditions, chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. Psychiatric services at our facilities include inpatient mental health treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. For adults with a substance issue, we provide inpatient detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient care. Each one of these services and programs is designed to holistically treat the entire person and help patients find the most direct path to wellness and recovery.
Where We Are Located
Our location in Pasadena, California, creates the perfect relaxed and comforting foundation for psychiatric and behavioral health treatment. Las Encinas is a 30- to 45-minute drive inland from downtown Los Angeles, on the east side of Pasadena. Our grounds are only six blocks away from the Sierra Madre Villa station of the GoldLine Metro.
Our Mental Health Treatment Facilities
With 27 acres of land, beautiful gardens, recreational areas, an outdoor pool and greenery as far as the eye can see, our mental health facilities provide the finest care in the finest setting. There are benches and seating areas scattered around the grounds to allow visitors and patients the chance to spend some time in the sunshine between treatment sessions. We have multiple buildings on campus to house individuals in our inpatient mental health programs, as well as a specialized recovery center for longer-term chemical dependency treatment. Each has dedicated patient rooms and open common areas, the latter of which facilitate socialization and family interaction.
Our units hold 118 licensed acute care beds, plus 38 residential treatment beds. There is plenty of parking for visitors at the Las Encinas mental health facilities, with several covered surface spots near the entrance, plus a larger underground garage. When you enter our hospital or are waiting to see a patient, you can take a seat in our warm and welcoming lobby. We encourage families and friends to visit their loved ones in our hospital, and have set visiting hours based on the program the patient is participating in.
Las Encinas Hospital is licensed by the State of California and accredited by The Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Our residential treatment program is licensed and certified by the State of California Department of Healthcare Services. We are also a Medicare and Medi-Cal provider, and are contracted with most major insurance companies. For any individual whose primary language is not English, Las Encinas provides language assistance to ensure the full benefits of the facility's programs are provided for every one of our patients.
Life at Las Encinas
While receiving treatment at our mental health facilities, patients are kept to a fairly strict program structure and schedule. This is to keep the focus on getting well without major distractions or excessive downtime. However, walks around the perfectly landscaped hospital campus are encouraged during breaks and visiting hours. Patients are served delicious, healthy meals and snacks each day and given opportunities to exercise each morning. Breaks, including cigarette breaks, are also offered to patients between components of treatment programs.
Our goal when designing our mental health facility was to create a place that inspires hope, provides a sense of tranquility, and prevents recovering patients from feeling like they are trapped in a hospital.
