Las Encinas Hospital is located in Pasadena, California, and offers a relaxed and comforting foundation for psychiatric and behavioral health treatment. The hospital is a 30–45-minute drive from downtown Los Angeles, on the east side of Pasadena. Our grounds are only six blocks away from the Sierra Madre Villa station of the Gold Line Metro.
With 25 acres of land, beautiful gardens, recreational areas, an outdoor pool and greenery as far as the eye can see, our behavioral health hospital provides the finest care, in the finest setting. Benches and seating areas are scattered around the grounds to allow patients the opportunity to spend some time in the sunshine, between treatment sessions. We also have a specialized residential treatment center on site for substance use disorder and dual diagnosis.
Our hospital contains 104 licensed acute care beds, plus 18 residential treatment beds, and will be opening a brand new, state of the art, 120-bed hospital at the beginning of 2027. Las Encinas Hospital is licensed by the California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. We are a Medicare and Medi-Cal provider, and we are contracted with most major insurance companies. For any individual whose primary language is not English, Las Encinas can often provide language assistance to ensure the full benefits of the facility’s programs are offered to every one of our patients.
Life at Las Encinas
While receiving treatment at our mental health facility, patients are kept to a fairly strict program structure and schedule. This helps to keep focus on getting well without major distractions or excessive downtime. However, walks around the hospital campus are encouraged during breaks and visiting hours. Patients are served delicious, healthy meals and snacks each day and given opportunities to exercise each morning. Breaks, including cigarette breaks, are also offered to patients between the various components of treatment.
Our goal when designing our mental health facility was to create an environment that inspires hope, provides a sense of tranquility, and prevents patients from feeling like they are trapped in a hospital. We also encourage families and friends to visit their loved ones in our hospital, and have set visiting hours based on the program the patient is participating in.
